Things to Bring © 2004 Kevin Doyle
Here’s a new list of things to bring
For a festival made for a queen and king
You don’t want it to be a bust
So listen up, you must, you must
A waterproof tent for those rainy days
And sleeping in when you hit the hay
You’ll need sunglasses too, through which to gaze
Your eyes will thank you, they’ll sing your praise
Insect repellent, just because
When the sun goes down, mosquitoes buzz
And sandals too, you don’t need socks
Be kind to your feet, don’t step on rocks
From early in the day to well past five
You might consider SPF 45
Your skin will thank you for not taking a chance
Later tonight, you’ll be ready to dance
You can buy a meal plan and party hearty
They start on time so don’t be tardy
But if you don’t, there’s more you’ll need
Than a loaf of bread and a bottle of mead
At spring time the wind may blow
Off the Great Lakes and chill your bones
Dress inlayers, cause like it or not
It could be chilly or it might be hot
Towels, soap, toothbrush and paste
These are things that won’t go to waste
Sleeping bag, blanket, pillows for your head
Some of us even bring our own beds
Folding chairs, a couple will do
Knapsack, fresh clothes and a hammock for two
You can travel with fairies, bring’em on by
But don’t forget deodorant, no need to ask why
The best thing you can bring along
Is a song in your heart, and heart in your song
But this is Belleville so don’t forget
It’s only 2 miles away for the things you forget
So come and join us for our time together
And pray to the Goddess for some decent weather
You won’t be sorry, you won’t be dismayed
We’ll all be happy, for new friends we’ve made
